With more than 10 years of experience in recruitment and talent acquisition, specializing in Freight Forwarding, Customs, Trade Compliance, Logistics, and Supply Chain, Varun founded AVS Employment Group in 2024 with a clear vision: to build a recruitment firm that puts relationships before transactions and consulting before recruiting.
From the beginning, AVS was created around a simple philosophy — Consultants First.
Varun believes that the best recruitment partnerships are built by truly understanding the people, businesses, and industries behind every search. Rather than simply filling vacancies, his approach is centered on listening, advising, sharing market insight, and helping both clients and candidates make informed decisions that support long-term success.
A strong believer in a family-first mindset, Varun has worked to build AVS around trust, loyalty, transparency, and genuine care for the people the company represents. Whether supporting a client through a critical hire or helping a candidate navigate an important career decision, he believes every relationship should be treated with the same level of respect and attention he would expect for his own family.
Over the course of his career, Varun has developed long-standing relationships with professionals and organizations across North America. Kerry Lawrence CCS, CTCS

I’ve spent over 25 years in customs and international trade as a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) and Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS), giving me the technical foundation to evaluate candidates beyond the résumé. My career has taken me through two Big Four accounting firms, a major Canadian importer, a national customs brokerage firm, and multiple duty recovery organizations—experiences that gave me a deep understanding of what exceptional talent in these fields truly looks like.
Over time, I found myself craving more meaningful, human connection. After COVID, that sense of closeness felt harder to find, and I realized how much I valued the relationships behind the work. That’s what led me into recruiting. Helping someone step into a role that can change their life—and helping companies find the right people to strengthen their teams—has become the most rewarding part of my career.
Today, I help organizations across Canada and the U.S. hire confidently for customs, indirect tax, logistics, and supply chain roles. I bring technical fluency and clarity using a people‑first approach to every search, while ensuring both clients as well as candidates feel supported and understood.
Angela Hoang
Recruitment Director
Angela brings a unique combination of direct 3PL industry experience and specialized recruitment expertise to AVS Employment Group. Having worked within the logistics sector herself, she understands the operational realities, commercial pressures, and talent challenges facing freight forwarding and supply chain organizations.
This industry background allows Angela to approach recruitment from a practical perspective. She understands the roles she recruits for, the environments candidates are stepping into, and the qualities that separate a strong resume from the right long-term hire.
With a candidate-first and relationship-driven approach, Angela partners with clients to develop targeted recruitment strategies designed around their specific business needs. Her expertise includes identifying and attracting specialized talent, advising hiring managers on market conditions and compensation, and managing the full recruitment process from initial search and candidate engagement through interviews, negotiation, and successful placement.
Angela has recruited across freight forwarding, transportation, logistics, sales, business development, engineering, and other specialized professional functions, with a particular strength in connecting experienced industry professionals with organizations where they can make a meaningful impact.
Known for her ability to build genuine relationships with both clients and candidates, Angela focuses on understanding the person behind the resume and the business behind the job description. Her goal is not simply to fill a vacancy, but to create placements that make sense for both sides and contribute to long-term success.
Outside of recruitment, Angela enjoys weightlifting, cooking, reading, and Latin dance.
Negin Razaghi
Negin is a Recruitment Manager at AVS Employment Group, specializing in logistics, transportation, supply chain, customs, and freight recruitment across Canada and the U.S. With over a decade of experience in the logistics industry, she brings a deep understanding of the operational demands, communication challenges, and fast-paced decision-making that define successful teams in this space.
After studying in California and Washington, Negin eventually made Canada her home and built her career across many areas of logistics. Her background combines hands-on operational experience with business development, giving her a strong understanding of both the technical and people side of the industry.
Through her experience working closely with logistics companies, Negin saw firsthand how much the right people can impact a business. She developed a passion for helping companies build stronger teams while also helping professionals find opportunities where they can truly grow and contribute.
At AVS Employment Group, Negin takes a relationship-focused and people-first approach to recruiting. Her industry knowledge allows her to quickly recognize talent, understand operational requirements, and connect businesses with professionals who can make an immediate impact.
In addition to her recruitment work, Negin is also the President of Arcom Freight Solutions, where she gained valuable experience building teams and managing logistics operations. This entrepreneurial background further strengthens her ability to understand the hiring challenges companies face and the importance of finding dependable, high-performing talent.
Outside of work, Negin is currently pursuing her MBA at Simon Fraser University and strongly believes that growth and learning never stop. She enjoys meeting new people, building lasting connections, traveling, skiing, and playing piano. Music has always been part of her life, and she even DJs for fun.
Jennifer Calarino
Jennifer brings approximately 15 years of recruitment experience, with a strong background in talent acquisition across the United States and direct experience recruiting within the global freight forwarding and logistics industry.
Prior to joining AVS Employment Group, Jennifer worked with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, where she supported recruitment across the U.S. for a wide range of roles within a large international freight forwarding organization. This experience gave her a firsthand understanding of the talent demands, operational environments, and hiring challenges facing logistics companies across different markets.
Having worked in both agency recruitment and corporate talent acquisition, Jennifer brings a well-rounded perspective to every search. She understands the priorities of hiring managers while also appreciating the importance of providing candidates with a transparent, engaging, and respectful recruitment experience.
For Jennifer, successful recruitment goes beyond filling a vacancy. Her approach is centered on understanding the individual behind the resume, the needs of the hiring organization, and creating a match that offers long-term value for both sides. She has built a reputation for developing trusted relationships with candidates and hiring leaders, many of which continue well beyond the placement process.
At AVS, Jennifer leads recruitment initiatives across the United States, with a particular focus on freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain, sales, operations, and other specialized industry functions. Her combination of national U.S. recruiting experience and direct freight forwarding industry exposure allows her to provide clients with informed, targeted, and relationship-driven talent solutions.
Outside of recruitment, Jennifer enjoys kayaking, watching sunsets, travelling especially cruises and following criminal and civil trials. She jokingly refers to herself as a self-proclaimed attorney with a completely imaginary online law degree.
